There is no higher award than box office, recognition, and affection, singer Shivang Upadhyay remarked in response to her tweet. “#TheKashmirFiles has acquired respect from the audience, few prizes cannot be the measure of respect,” one individual tweeted in Hindi. One person said, “Vivek Agnihotri had declined to accept the medal,” while another said, “Agnihotri ne man kiya tha kher sahab.”
The Kashmir Files took home awards in six different categories, including Best Film and Best Writing. Vivek Agnihotri was also nominated for Best Director. In the Best Supporting Actor category for the movie, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumar were also nominated as cast members.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, which stars Alia Bhatt, won the Best Film prize. At the ceremony, he also took home the prize for Best Director. Anil Kapoor, who received the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) award for Jugjag Jeeyo, defeated Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumar. For Badhaai Do, Akshat Ghildiyal, Suman Adhikari, and Harshvardhan Kulkarni received the Best Screenplay honor.
In a lengthy letter opposing the star system that was published before the Filmfare Awards, Vivek stated, “Thus, as a protest and dissent against a corrupt, immoral, and sycophantic establishment of Bollywood, I have opted not to accept such accolades.” I have decided that I will not participate in any tyrannical and tainted awards or systems that view writers, directors, and other HODs and members of the film crew as slaves or under the stars.
