Director Vikramaditya Motwane claims Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first collaboration with him as an assistant director caused him to go “wild.” Vikramaditya experienced a “cultural shock” when he moved from a well-paying DD show where he had plenty of freedom to express himself to Sanjay’s world of hard work. Vikramaditya began his career in Bollywood as Sanjay’s assistant.
With regard to Sanjay Lil Bhansali, Vikramaditya Motwane speaks.
Vikramaditya responded to a question regarding whether Sanjay is “a wild person who will drive you insane with his megalomania” in an interview with Mid Day, “Sanjay lives, breathes, and is fascinated with cinema. His flicks. You nailed it. aiming towards excellence. That occasionally comes off as strange. But once you work as a director, you comprehend. You are aware of the rationale (he acts like that). No, it isn’t megalomania. It’s just that you’re so engrossed in making your movie, telling it, and constructing the universe and world it takes place in. He is exceptional, distinctive, and uniquely himself.
“That drove me mad because I was approaching before him,” he claimed. Before that, I performed in Disney Club concerts. The director claimed that he would receive $8,000 per month for four or five days of shooting. While working at DD Show, he also enjoyed a great deal of creative flexibility. This occurred in 1990. Cut to you being forced into a world where you’re working seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, and my income is two thousand five hundred dollars each month. But you can also tell how hard they worked. There is a “chalta hai” when you notice pervasive laziness in the industry. And numerous films have shown it. Because of this “chalta hai” attitude, the sound is bad, the music is terrible, and everything is terrible. Sanjay was an exception to this rule. Despite the fact that Sanjay is fantastic, Vikramaditya claimed that working with him was a culture shock for him.
Films by Vikramaditya Motwane include Udaan, AK Vs. AK, and Lootera. The Prime Video web series Jubilee is Vikramaditya’s most recent project.
