The Kashmir Files, a film by Vivek Agnihotri, has been nominated for seven Filmfare Awards, including Best Director, but the filmmaker has decided not to attend. Writers, directors, and other HODs and crew members of the film are treated as beneath the stars and/or as slaves, according to Vivek, who stated that he “does not want to be a part of the repressive and corrupt system or accolades.” Vivek sent a lengthy letter criticising the awards and discussing the emergence of a new parallel Hindi film industry in response to a tweet regarding the Filmfare nominations this year. The upcoming Filmfare Awards won’t feature Vivek Agnihotri. Vivek tweeted on Thursday, “I came to know that #TheKashmirFiles has been nominated in 7 categories for the 68th Filmfare Awards. I learned this through the media.” So I sincerely decline to participate in these immoral and anti-movie awards. Understand the reason: Except the celebrities, no one has a face, claims Filmfare. It doesn’t matter. In the sycophantic and unethical world of Filmfare, great directors like Sanjay Bhansali or Sooraj Barjatya have no presence. Anees Bazmee resembles Kartik Aaryan, Sooraj resembles Mr. Bachchan, and Sanjay Bhansali resembles Alia Bhatt. The Filmfare Awards do not in any way contribute to a filmmaker’s dignity, but this degrading system must be abolished.

He continued, “I have therefore decided not to accept such prizes as a signal of my protest and dissent against a corrupt, immoral, and sycophantic establishment of Bollywood. I won’t take part in any corrupt or repressive awards or systems that view writers, directors, and other HODs and members of the film crew as second-class citizens or as slaves.

In response to his tweet, self-described film critic Kamaal R Khan wrote, “Brother, excellent choice. a courageous choice. I commend you.
