The Song Of Scorpions, Irrfan’s final acting project, will soon be released in India. The main man isn’t present, so it’s been a long wait. Nonetheless, the film’s director, Anoop Singh, who is speaking to us from Switzerland, is pleased that it has a venue.
One of the final films starring the late actor Irrfan will be The Song Of Scorpions, directed by Anoop Singh.
“Irrfan not being here is inconceivable. He will undoubtedly be pleased to see the kind of release the movie is receiving in India, which it is, he predicts.
The Song of Scorpions, which also features Waheeda Rehman, was finished in 2017 and spent a year travelling to film festivals. Once the pandemic ravaged the world, preparations for an Indian release had to be delayed. It was released in Europe in 2019. Singh claims that “several films were impacted. We are obviously not a masala movie. Long periods of time passed during which theatres were shuttered and few people visited them. It appears that more and more individuals are getting ready to view the movie in theatres at this time. I am really appreciative of my Indian distributors. He has been with the movie for three years and has put forth a lot of effort.
Irrfan, how about him? What did he say when the movie was unable to be released in India? Irrfan had seen the movie when it was released in Europe, and we received a really positive feedback, the director remarked. He was ecstatic with this. He sincerely wanted the movie to be shown in India, especially after he started becoming sick. He was very eager to let it go. I believe he was disappointed that it wasn’t released then. But he realised Kovid had rendered it impossible.
