Pamela Chopra, mother of filmmaker Aditya Chopra, passed away at Lilavati Hospital on Thursday morning. She was the wife of late filmmaker Yash Chopra. Soon after his funeral, several Bollywood celebrities made their way to Aditya Chopra’s home to offer condolences. These included Shah Rukh Khan and son Aryan Khan, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. He was seen in white.

Pamela Chopra was a singer, producer and writer and is credited as co-screenwriter on Dil To Pagal Hai. Shah Rukh Khan has worked in many films like Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer Zara and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, directed by Yash Chopra. He has worked extensively in many of Aditya Chopra’s films including Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Mohabbatein, Chake De! India and the latest production, Pathan. Katrina Kaif worked in Yash Chopra’s last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Shahrukh has a close relationship with Pamela in addition to Yash Chopra. In a 2015 interview with Rediff, she once stated, “Shah Rukh and I maintain a terrific friendship. He is totally yours when he is with you, but when he leaves the room, he doesn’t recognize you (laughs). She is actually incredibly sweet. I can always count on him to show up when I call.
On Thursday, Yash Raj Films released a statement regarding Pamela’s passing. It said: “The Chopra family regrets to announce the passing of Pamela Chopra, 74, this morning. The family would like to ask for privacy at this period of intense loss and introspection, and we are grateful for your prayers.”
In 1970, she wed Yash Chopra, and her career continued to have a significant impact on him. Pamela worked for Yash Raj Pictures as a costume designer, producer, and associate producer in addition to singing and writing. For his movies, she performed a number of songs, including Surkh Jodi’s Jaggamghat in Kabhi Kabhie, Khud Se Jo Vaada Kiya Thi in Silsila, and Ghar Aaja Pardesi in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The plot of the 1976 movie Kabhi Kabhi was written by him.
