In response to public curiosity regarding Superman’s future in the DC Universe following Henry Cavill’s departure from the Superman series, Dwayne Johnson has finally spoken out on the Black Adam and Superman narrative. After the controversial hiring of new co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran to the DC universe, fans were disappointed to learn that a prospective Black Adam sequel had also been postponed.
In DC’s most recent film, Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson, Henry Cavill played Superman. Fans are anticipating more appearances by Superman in the future because to his role in the post-credits scene of the movie. DC just shelved the third film in the Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman series, starring Gal Gadot. In December of last year, Dwayne said on Twitter that DC and his production company, Seven Bucks, had informed him that James Gunn and he were engaged and that Black Adam would not appear in his initial story. But, it has been decided by DC and Seven Bucks to keep looking for the best ways to utilize Black Adam in upcoming chapters of the DC Universe.
All I could do, and all we could do when we were making Black Adam, was put our best foot forward and surround ourselves, Dwayne reportedly remarked when discussing the future of Black Adam. We provided the greatest film and people we could. We received 90s from our audience ratings. A few criticisms were leveled, but that is business as usual. It’s almost like when a professional football team’s quarterback and head coach win championships, and a new owner takes over and declares, “Not my coach, not my quarterback. I’m taking a new person with me.
In 2025, a new Superman film is expected to be released. Superman: Legacy, which will be penned by James Gunn, will center on a significantly younger Superman. In addition to The Brave and the Bold, James Gunn and Peter Safran are developing Supergirl: Planet of Tomorrow and a new Batman and Robin movie called The Brave and the Bold for the DC Universe.
