Sayaji Shinde, a well-known Marathi and Hindi actor, narrowly avoided a possibly fatal bee assault while taking part in a tree-planting campaign on the Pune-Bengaluru highway.

As 64-year-old Shinde and his team were replanting trees that had been uprooted for the widening of the Pune-Bengaluru expressway, the incident happened close to Taswade.

A swarm of furious bees apparently went into a particular tree after participants supposedly disturbed it.

Sayaji Shinde, a Satara native, was brought right away to his car, where he remained until the bees had left and things had returned to normal.

Relieved, Shinde later declared that he was “not hurt” in the incident and that plantation work had resumed to his volunteers and the local media on Tuesday.

An Organisation called Sahyadri Devrai was founded in 2015 by renowned environmentalist Sayaji Shinde with the goal of conserving, protecting, and replanting trees in the ecologically vulnerable Western Ghats and neighboring areas to build forests abounding with flora and fauna.

Over 700,000 indigenous trees have been successfully planted by Sahyadri Devaraya to far. It also has 29 devarayas (holy groves) across the state, 2 tree banks, bio-diversity tracts, butterfly gardens, and rock gardens around Maharashtra.

On the professional front, Sayaji Shinde is a familiar actor in theatre, television and Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Bhojpuri films and is most renowned for his parts in Bollywood hits such as ‘Jodi No. 1’, ‘Chhal’, ‘ is done. Calcutta Mail, Darmiyaan – In Between, School, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi are some examples.
