Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh has been replaced by England’s Jason Roy for the remainder of the IPL 2023 by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), after the all-rounder withdrew for personal reasons.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Shakib notified Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday of his decision to skip the IPL 2023 competition because to his commitments with Bangladesh. He and keeper-batsman Liton Das had already missed the Knight Riders’ season-opening match against the Punjab Kings and the home T20I series against Ireland.
They are both included in Bangladesh’s team for the one-off test beginning on Tuesday against Ireland. After that, Bangladesh will embark on a trip of the UK, where they will take on Ireland in three one-day internationals (ODIs) in Chelmsford on May 9, 12, and 14.
Since he would be playing for Bangladesh during this time, Shakib Al Hasan notified the KKR franchise that he would be occupied. He also disclosed that he was having “personal troubles” with his family who were living in the United States.

Roy had previously committed to playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL in 2022, but he decided against competing due to the difficulty of remaining in the competition’s bubble for an extended period of time. In the auction for the IPL 2023, Roy was not chosen.
