Kane Williamson, a star from New Zealand and one of the top batsmen in the world He didn’t have a pleasant time in India because he was had to withdraw from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 after suffering an injury in the opening game. Williamson was notably a part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) Franchise in the 16th IPL season. The 32-year-old Kiwi player was hurt during the tournament’s opening game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK),

Williamson collapsed on his right knee while attempting to block a six by Ruturaj Gaikwad off Joshua Little during the game’s thirteenth over. Williamson was soon inspected by physios from GT and CSK. Later in the game, Sai Sudarshan took Williamson’s position. After the injury, the Ahmedabad-based team quickly declared that the right-handed batter would not be playing in IPL 2023 and would instead be going back to his hometown. Williamson’s injury was severe, but neither the team nor the player made that information public.

Williamson, meantime, departed for New Zealand and was seen on Tuesday at Auckland airport (April 4). A local media network posted the video of the incident on its Twitter account. The 32-year-old is seen in the video walking on crutches and a knee brace.

Williamson explained his injuries to reporters, saying: “For now, it’s not too painful.”

 

 

Williamson is one of New Zealand’s key players, and the ODI World Cup 2023 is also scheduled for later this year. Despite the injury’s extent not yet being revealed, it might prove to be a huge blow for the team. As far as GT is concerned, they haven’t decided who will take Williamson’s job, but they are considering potential candidates.
