Despite recent firings at other Premier League clubs, Jurgen Klopp’s job as manager of Liverpool is still safe, and the German manager acknowledged that his prolonged stay at the team is the “elephant in the room.” Klopp made the remarks in response to Graham Potter’s dismissal from Chelsea and Brendan Rodgers’ departure from Leicester City.
In the Premier League, Liverpool is now in eighth place despite having a dreadful season. They are currently eight points behind Tottenham, who are in the final top four, putting their future participation in the Champions League in doubt. Naturally, the miserable campaign led to criticism of Jürgen Klopp’s team selections and strategies.

Jurgen Klopp addresses the ‘elephant in the room’
Prior to Tuesday’s match between Chelsea and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Bruno Salter, who previously collaborated with Potter at Brighton, has been named interim manager. But, Brendan Rodgers was also fired by Leicester City as the Foxes slipped into the relegation zone, making Potter not the only Premier League manager to lose his job over the weekend.
Under Rodgers, Leicester made a big impression with their first FA Cup victory in 2019 and two fifth-place finishes. The Foxes have struggled this season, though, and after falling to Crystal Palace on Saturday, they are in in 18th place. Tottenham also fired Antonio Conte just last month as a result of the Italian’s oppression of the team and its players.
In the middle of a record-breaking Premier League firing season, Jürgen Klopp has playfully acknowledged that he might be the next to go. The German acknowledges that, despite the fact that twelve managers have already been fired this season, he is relying on his prior achievements to keep his job. In a press conference prior to the Chelsea game, Klopp stated:
What can I say about this (recent dismissal), he asked? How am I still sitting here in this strange world is the question that needs to be addressed. the final survivor! There are 12 teams left in the Premier League this year, huh? a frightening amount. I can’t really say much more than that other that Chelsea and Leicester are not where they were hoping to be. They are both people I am quite familiar with, who I respect and who I like. They are both excellent supervisors and genuinely kind people.
