In honor of Women’s Day, Alia Bhatt’s 2014 film “Highway” has made a comeback to theaters, giving her fans cause for celebration.
From March 7 to March 13, the Imtiaz Ali-directed and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment-produced movie will be shown in PVR and Inox theaters.
“Highway remains one of our most cherished films and continues to receive immense love even today. It is a timeless classic that deserves to be revisited, featuring outstanding performances by Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda. I am delighted that this Women’s Day, audiences will have the chance to experience this beautiful film on the big screen again,” producer Sajid Nadiadwala wrote in a press release released by the film’s team.
Actor Randeep Hooda, who portrayed one of the kidnappers, Mahabir Bhati, in the movie, took a trip down memory lane a few days ago and reminisced working with Imtiaz Ali on Highway, which also starred Alia Bhatt.
In a press release, Randeep thanked Imtiaz, saying, “Highway is such a classic because it is a journey, and that too of love. A pure love that is doomed by the class divide in our country. It is just not acceptable in our society. Though Veera, being innocent about it, wants it, Mahabir, knowing the reality, resists, only to finally give in and pay the price with his life.” “Highway is a movie where ‘living the part’ started to take some tangible shape for me. I am really grateful to Imtiaz for allowing that to happen to me. It did spill over into my life as well at that time, and maybe Mahabir still lingers within me.”
“I lived it more off-camera than what was captured in those days, and I am still learning over the years to have more translate on camera and have less affliction of that in one’s real life,” he continued. “It was a very depressing and bitter state of mind.”
Highway, which was released eleven years ago, presented the concepts of “bondage” and “freedom” in a novel way. In the movie, Alia portrayed a Delhi girl from a wealthy family who is kidnapped by Hooda, a Haryanvi truck driver.
